Basic Goaltending Technique

Goalie Fundamentals

This page will be an off-season project for MYH. This is where we'll maintain content to help our coaches understand modern goaltending technique. There is more goalie content on the Internet than ever before; our goal with this page is to present a really solid understanding of the basic concepts our goaltenders need to enable non-goalie coaches to plan better for their 'tendies and for goalie families to appreciate what their kids are working on.

Puckhandling

Our goalies need to be able to aggressively get to pucks, read the hockey play in front of them, make quick and quality decisions with the puck, and make the right play. The first pass is important - but are we anticipating what happens in the play after that?
