Taste of Madison - Volunteers Needed (Aug 31). Good Neighbor Fest was a huge success!

Volunteers Needed ASAP - Taste of Madison: August 31, 2024 2-9 PM

Location: Capitol Square

Taste of Madison is a fun opportunity to run both a soda and beer tent with proceeds going to MYH. It’s tons of fun to be downtown for the event! Volunteers must be 18+ for the beer stand and 4 volunteers who are 12+ (with at least one adult present) for the soda stand.

Here is the link for registration for Taste of Madison.

Thanks for making Good Neighbor Fest a huge success!

On behalf of the Board, I want to express our thanks to our membership for their dedication to the opportunity that we have at Good Neighbor Fest to fundraise for our club. As most know this is our largest fundraiser for the year that requires the most volunteers. We had a large number of parents who answered the call and went above and beyond and although I cannot name everyone, I just want to recognize that there were many of you who came early to your shift to make sure we were covered, stayed later on your shift to help us out and who even recruited friends to come and help our club. All of this work helps the club be in a position to work to keep our fees lower for our families.

Although we don’t have the final numbers at this point, we have a chance to have a record setting year for the amount that the club fundraised. This is a direct result of the tireless work of our volunteers! We will keep everyone posted on how it went once we have the final totals in.

Although I cannot mention everyone who helped or played a part in our success this year, we need to recognize Tyson Glimme. Tyson serves on the board for Good Neighbor Fest and dedicates so much of his time to not only the success of Good Neighbor Fest, but also to making sure that Middleton Youth Hockey has everything we need and making sure that we are successful. He has a double role as a hockey parent and a GNF Board member and puts 100% into each of these roles to make our fundraiser a success. It is not only him, but Michelle and the entire Glimme family busy helping MYH all weekend with any task from cleaning up garbage, restocking coolers, set up, tear down, and everything our club needed. If you see Tyson and Michelle and the Glimme kids at the rink, make sure to thank them for their dedication and efforts for our club. Without Tyson, we would not be able to make this as much of a success as we do each year!

We also need to recognize Frank Beverage Group who works with us every year to make sure we are supplied with enough for people to drink, supplies and with workers to change kegs, restock coolers and help us with what we need from them. This makes it better for our club to have people we can count on to make sure we keep up and running.

This year, we also need to recognize the work of Maureen Mauk in creating our Parent’s Night on Friday night, with many club members winning prizes that many in our club worked hard to get donated for us, and in bringing our families together to get to know each other and our club better. I was happy to see parents from every level from Learn to Play (Initiation) to Bantams at Good Neighbor Fest on Friday socializing and working to develop the culture that we want for this club! Thank you to Middleton Ford, Miggy’s Bakes, Knitwit 608 Hats, The Chocolate Shoppe, The Village Green, Grape Water Wine Bar, Steve’s Wine & Spriits, Play it Again Sports, the Dubiskys, the Shaws and the many who helped support our club with their donations. More fun events like this to come!

In addition to the Beer Tent we also walked in the Parade. We had a large number of parents and skaters join us for the parade. It was great to see all of these kids excited about hockey and representing our club! It was a hot one yesterday, but all of the kids did great in walking with us and spreading a good culture of MYH. As part of this I need to recognize Josh and Melissa Kagerbauer for their work on the float, pulling it, getting it to the parade and leading the charge of making sure we had enough kids and parents to represent MYH in the parade.

Thank you again to everyone for your time and dedication to our club! After the heat this weekend, I am even more looking forward to getting back to the ice, not only to cool down, but to see the development in these skaters. I felt a sense of excitement for the upcoming season and for Middleton Youth Hockey in general which made me proud to be a part of this organization.

Feel free to reach out with any questions or comments about your experience with our club at Good Neighbor Fest. If you have ideas, I am always happy to hear them and see what we can develop for the future.

Thank you all for your time and energy in support of our club!

Brian Juech, President, Middleton Youth Hockey
